How to verify your Google Business Profile
To verify your Google Business Profile, sign in at google.com/business, select your business, and choose a verification method — usually video, phone, email, or postcard. Record the requested video or enter the code Google sends. Verification typically takes a few minutes to 5 days, depending on the method Google offers you.
Step by step
Sign in to Google Business Profile
Go to google.com/business and sign in with the Google account that should own the listing. Search for your business — claim it if it already exists, or add it if it doesn't.
Choose your verification method
Google offers one or more methods based on your business type: video verification, phone, text, email, or a postcard with a code. You usually can't pick freely — Google decides which are available.
Complete the verification
For video, record a short clip showing your location, equipment and proof you manage the business. For phone/email/postcard, enter the code Google sends you.
Wait for approval
Video and phone are often near-instant to a few days; postcards take up to 5 business days. Until approved, your profile won't show publicly.
When it goes wrong
Verification keeps failing or gets rejected
Usually caused by an address that doesn't match reality, a virtual office, or a video that doesn't clearly prove you operate the business. Fix the mismatch before retrying — repeated failed attempts can lock the listing.
You never received the postcard
Postcards get lost often. If it doesn't arrive in ~14 days, request a new code — and don't edit your business name or address while waiting, or the clock resets.
Someone else already verified your business
You'll need to request ownership through Google's form. This is common with businesses that were listed years ago by a third party.
